Possibilities!

The potential to wrap a song around what you do best is virtually limitless. Whether the song is for you to give, or the experience is a gift to give to someone else, or you need a song to play at the opening of a convention or meeting, I’ve likely done it! Let’s look at some possibilities:

1. You might have, say, a Christina Aguilera ballad you’d like to do, but the key is too high for you to reach comfortably, and you’d like to have it set as you in front of a symphony orchestra. We can either lower the whole tune until it’s comfortable for you, or maybe just modulate the key to put the highest part where you can sound great on it. And check my playlist on the front page for an idea of what my orchestral tracks sound like!

2. You have an idea for a “hook” (the memorable refrain from the song, most likely the title) and some idea of a story you’d like to tell. Frame it up, I’ll put it to a melody over a piano track and sing it so you can get an idea of what it might sound like, and you can get some more ideas on it from there. Once the lyric is done, I’ll build a full track around it, you’ll sing it at your own comfortable pace in your own home, and we’ll turn out a polished, finished product. To be honest, people tend to be shocked at how great it is to hear their creativity fleshed out in this way!

3. You need a track for an audition reel that really shows what you’d sound like over a production specifically tailored to your unique gifts. Be it an original song or a cover, we’ll make sure you sound your very best and that the track is a custom fit for whatever it is you’re auditioning for. Maybe it’s even a little medley of songs to showcase your versatility; I consider that a specialty!

4. Your grandparents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and you’d love to have a big, lush arrangement of the song that was playing for their first dance 50 years ago, with you or a loved one singing it. Consider it done; this kind of thing is among my favorite sort of project to do!

5. You don’t sing, you don’t write lyrics, but someone you know is really into the singer/songwriter thing, and they could really use something better than a recording into their phone to represent themselves, and they could really use the experience of seeing what their potential is, what they’re capable of in the hands of an experienced producer. I’ve been teaching lessons via Skype around the world for years now, and am an expert coach (a surprising number of my students actually need some coaching on stage fright issues; I consider myself an expert, having conquered that myself!). What better a gift than THAT!

6. Valentine’s day is coming up, and this year you want to really hit it out of the park. You have a Robert Frost poem that you and your loved one have always loved; let’s put it to music and get you sounding great singing it!

Feel free to hit me with your own ideas for your own unique gift of song; I’m all ears!
